481 Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982)

 This  is  one  of  the  better  Friday  the  13th  sequels  and  the  one  where  Jason  acquires  the  hockey  mask. The  3D effects  don't  add  very  much  but  better  delineated characters  and  narrative  structure   and  inventive  kills  make  it  worthwhile.

Dana  Kimmell ( as Chris )

Dana  came  from  Arkansas  and  got  the  part  after  a  string  of  Tv  appearances. Her  outspoken  views  on  nudity  and  swearing  restricted  her  to  just  three  film  appearances  though  she  was  active  in  TV  in  the  eighties. She  retired  from  acting  in  2001.

Tracie  Savage ( as Debbie )

Sex : Debbie has  sex  with  her  boyfriend

Death : Debbie  is  knifed  from  behind  by  Jason

Tracie's  acting  career  began  as  a  child  on  TV  in  1970. After  this film, she  quit  acting  to  study  journalism. She  was  called  to  the  witness  stand in  the  O J  Simpson  murder  trial  to  reveal  her  sources  but  refused. From  2002  onwards  she  began  to  act  again  usually  playing  a  reporter. She  also  has  a  regular  radio  show.

Catherine  Parks ( as  Vera )

Death : Harpooned  through  the  eye  with  a  spear gun

Catherine  was  a  former  model  from Florida who  came   4th runner-up  in  Miss  America  in  1978.  Her  acting  career  petered  out  after  1993.

Rachel  Howard  ( as Chill)

Death : Run  through  with  a  hot poker

This  is  the  second  of  three well-spaced  acting  roles  for  Rachel.

Gloria Charles ( as Fox )

Sex : No

Death :  Stabbed  through the neck with a pitchfork

This  was  Gloria's  first  screen  role. She  went  on  to  a  10 year  career  as  a  bit  part  actress  in  film  and  TV. She  died in 2016.

480 Poltergeist (1982 )

 This  was  one  of  the  most  commercially  successful horror  pictures of  the  eighties  spawning  two  sequels  and  a  remake.  Tobe  Hooper  filmed  Steven  Spielberg's  story with   lavish  special  effects  replacing  blood  and  gore  to  get  a  PG  rating. The  normality  of  the  family  beset  by  terrifying  events  makes  it  a  very  effective  shocker.

JoBeth Williams ( as  Diane )

JoBeth hails  from  Texas. She  made  her  film  debut  in  Kramer vs Kramer  three  years  earlier  and  had  a  string  of  hit  films  in  the  eighties, She  has  had  a solid  career  in  film  and  TV  since  then.

Dominique Dunne ( as Dana )

Dominique was from  Santa  Monica  and  this  was  her  film  debut  after  a  string  of  TV  appearances. Unfortunately, Dominique was  already  involved  in  an  abusive  relationship with  a chef  and  he  killed  her  before  the  year  was  out.

Heather O' Rourke ( as Carol Anne )

Heather  was  just  six  years  old  at  the  time  of  filming. She  met  Spielberg  through  her  older  sister, also  an  actress. Her  only  film  roles  were  the  first  three  Poltergeist films  though  she  did   a  lot  of  TV  work in  between. She  died  due  to  intestinal  problems in 1988  

479 Visiting Hours (1982)

 Michael  Ironside  stars  in  this  hospital-set  Canadian  slasher as  Colt, a  psycho  set  on  killing  a  leftie  TV  journalist  ( Lee  Grant )   who  annoys  him. This  suffers  at  times  from  slow pacing  and  an  unsympathetic  lead  but  for  the  most  part  it's  pretty  good.

Linda Purl ( as Sheila Monroe )

Linda  trained  as  an  actress  in  both  Japan  and  Britain. She  is a  very  busy  TV  actress  who  only  ventures  into  film  occasionally. She  is also  a  jazz  singer. She is  a  four  time  divorcee  and  currently  seeing  Dallas  man  Patrick  Duffy.

Lenore  Zann (as  Lisa)

Sex : Lisa  strips  for  sex  with  Colt  but  he  beats  her  up  instead

Death : Survives

This  was  a  meatier  role  for  Lenore  though  not  involving  any  swimming.

Kirsten Bishop ( as Denise )

Sex: No

Death : Survives

Kirsten  had  a  minor  role  in  Shivers  as  a  child. She  was  mainly  to  be  found  on  Canadian  TV  though  she  also  did  voice  work. She  died  in 2014.

Deborah  Kirshenbaum ( as Connie )

Sex : Connie talks  about  sleeping with a  doctor

Death : Stabbed with  a  scalpel  by  Colt

This  was Deborah's  first  film  role. She  did  a  few  TV  movies then  disappeared  after  1997.
