63 Torture Ship ( 1939 )

This  is  a  pretty  terrible  offering  from  Victor  Halperin.

A  number  of  convicts  including  two  women  are  on  board  a  cruise  ship.  Dr  Stander  ( Irving  Pichel )  is  conducting  neurological  experiments  on  them. The  ship's  crew  includes  his  nephew  Bob  ( Lyle  Talbot )  who  falls  for  one  of  the  women  Joan  who  is  only  guilty  by  association.  Dr  Stander  has  plans  for  both  of  them.

It's  cheap, incoherent  and  badly  acted.

Julie  Bishop  ( as  Joan )

Sex : No, two  rape  threats  are  not  carried  out

Death : Survives

Julie  was  originally  Jacqueline  Wells  and  the  films  she  made  as  a  child  actress  in  the twenties  were  under  that  name. She  had  most  success  in  the  forties  although  her career  lasted into  the  mid-fifties. She  died  in  2001   aged  87.

Sheila  Bromley  (  as  Poison  Mary )

Sex : No

Death : Survives

Sheila  was  best  known  for  Westerns  but  she  too  had  a  lengthy  career  lasting  into  the  sixties. She  died  in  2003  aged  91.
