A so-so sequel to the first film which relies on Phibes ( Vincent Price once more ) talking to himself to explain the plot as he goes along. Phibes is now seeking eternal life for himself and wife Victoria but in this film has a rival in Biederbecke ( Robert Quarry) another who is keeping himself alive artificially. This gives a flimsy excuse for another set of grisly murders before the final confrontation. Peter Jeffrey and John Cater teprise their roles for comic relief.

Valli replaced Virginia North from the first film who was now pregnant. Valli was born in Kenya but the family later moved to Australia where she worked as a model. When her acting career slumped she became a fashion designer, artist and art teacher in Australia. She is now 67.
