It's good that this British effort by Tigon is set in Lancashire but it's so dark and gloomy throughout that it becomes difficult to watch. Good performances from Flora Robson and Beryl Reid as the elderly sisters nursing a dark family secret but a few more shocksa wouldn't have come amiss.

Tessa made few films but has been a successful TV actress for decades. She achieved fame of an unwelcome kind in the late seventies when her marriage to DJ Tony Blackburn failed and he pleaded with her to come back on air. She consoled herself with Richard O' Sullivan, her co-star in Robin's Nest. She's still active with a recent stint in Eastenders behind her. She is now 69.

Little is known about Annabel who made just two films and disappears after 1975.
