This is where John Carpenter started losing the plot. Combining the occult with his interest in theoretical physics he concocts a bizarre siege movie in which a nutty old priest ( Donald Pleasence), a professor and a group of very mature students are trapped in an old church with a canister of green liquid which is really Satan or something like that. What really drags it down is the terrible acting, with Dennis Dun the standout, and the atrocious dialogue which is either pretentious gobbledegook or stupefyingly banal. Alice Cooper has a cameo in which he wisely doesn't say anything.
