132 The Black Scorpion ( 1957 )

This  being  a  joint  US-Mexican  venture,  I  dare  say  it's  not  Donald  Trump's  favourite  film  but  it's  actually  a  pretty  good  monster  movie  with  decent  special  effects  for  its  time. I'm  surprised  I haven't  heard  of  it  before  now.

Two  geologists  an  American  , Hank  ( Richard  Denning )  and  Mexican  Arturo  ( Carlos  Rivas )  investigate  a  new volcano  formed  by  an  earthquake. They  find  evidence  of  damage not  caused  and  locals  talking  of  a  fierce beast  in  the  night. This  turns  out  to  be  a giant  scorpion  and  the bad  news  is  there's  more  where  he  came  from.

Mara  was  born  Marilyn  Watts  in  Santa  Monica. She  was  a  dancer  and  model  before  breaking into  films . She  had  a  reasonable  film  career  before  retiring  in  the  mid-sixties to  raise  a family. She  is  a  long  time  friend  of  Clint  Eastwood  and  had  parts  in  four  of  his  movies between   1977  and  1990.
