232 Die, Monster, Die ! ( 1965 )

This   H P  Lovecraft  adaptation  is  not  quite  as  dramatic  as  its  title  suggests and the  exposition  is  somewhat  woolly  but  it's  atmospheric  and  looks  gorgeous. It  was  made  by  American  International  Pictures  but  filmed  in  the  UK.

Steve  Reinhart   ( Nick  Adams ) is  an  American  student  who  comes to  visit  his  girlfriend  Susan  at  her  family  mansion. The  local  villagers  are  hostile  and  her  invalid  father  Nahum  ( Boris  Karloff  back  on  top  form )  tells  him  to  go  home. Persuaded  to  stay  by  her  ailing  mother  Letitia  ( Freda  Jackson )  Steve  begins  to  investigate  the strange  goings  on  at  the  house.

Suzan  was  a  popular  British  actress  in  the  sixties  and  early  seventies  appearing  in  many  ITC  series  including  four  separate  appearances  in  The  Saint. She  was  married  to  Ian  McShane  for  three  years  in  the  mid-sixties. She  had  a  short stint  in  Coronation  Street  in  1978  but  disappears  after  1980. She  is  now  75.
