This low budget slasher was co-written by its star, Joe Spinnell from The Godfather ( when he was a lot slimmer ). If it made sense to him, the film doesn't do a great job of communicating the logic to an audience. Spinnell plays Frank Zito a greasy slob of no apparent means who murders random women in New York City then scalps them , The scalps are attached to mannequins who are then treated to rambling monologues. Frank then strikes up a relationship with a beautiful English photographer mystifyingly failing to notice what a wierdo he is.
The film was branded a video nasty and there are occasional bursts of extreme gore but the film has serious problems with its pacing and much of what goes on between them is tedious, unbelievable and sometimes embarrassing.The film does have is fans but I'm not one of them.

Hyla was more of a gymnast and stuntwoman than an actress and is only credited in five films. She was a noted cat lover establishing a Trust to help cat charities. She died in 2016.
