474 Cat People (1982)

 This  was  director  Paul  Schrader's  first  dip into  horror  and  it's  probably  the  first  definitively  eighties   horror  film  in  its  visual  aesthetic  and  soundtrack. It's  a  remake  of  the  1942  classic  but    of  course  much  more  graphic  and  erotic. A  young  woman Irena  joins  her  brother Paul  in  New  Orleans  after they  were  separated as  children but  he  soon  vanishes..His  disappearance  coincides with  the  capture of  a  large  black  panther. The  young zookeeper  Oliver begins  a  relationship with   Irena  when  he  sees  her  fascination  with  the  cat  but  comes  to  realise  their  connection is  way  outside  his  experience.  The  film  is  a  bit  too  long  and  the  leading  man  lacks  charisma  but  otherwise  it's  on  the  money.

Natassja  is  the  daughter  of  temperamental  German  actor  Klaus Kinski. She  started  acting  in  her  early  teens  and  attracted  controversy by  appearing nude  in  her  first  two  films, In  1976 she met  Roman  Polanski  and  given  subsequent  events  it  was  assumed  they  were  lovers  but  Kinski  has  denied  this. She  rose  to  stardom in  his  Tess in 1979. She  divided  her  time  between European  and  Hollywood  pictures  although  Revolution   in  1985  damaged  her  standing  in  the  latter. She  is  still  a  working  actress.

Despite  her  Irish  name  and  colouring,  Annette  was  born  in  Houston  but  moved  to  L.A. at 13  and  soon  made  her  TV  debut  in  1967. Her  first credited  film  role  was  in  Smile  in 1975. Her  most  prominent film  role  was  as  Superman's  love interest  in  Superman III.  She  returned  to  horror  in  the  TV  adaptation  of  Stephen  King's  It. After  that , she  was  mainly  to  be  found  in  TV  movies  until  landig  the  role  of  Martha  Kent  in  Smallville in  2001. She is still  a  working  actress.

Lynn Lowry ( as  Ruthie )

Tessa  Richarde ( as  Billie )

Tessa  was  a  character  actress  usually  found  in  comic  roles  on  film  and  TV. Her  last  screen  credit  was  an  appearance  in  Dallas in 1990.

Berry  Berenson ( As Sandi )

Berry  was  a  noted  fashion  photographer  from  New  York  who  got  into  acting through  her  marriage  to  Anthony  Perkins though  she  only  appeared  in  three  films  and  one  TV  series. After  Perkins' death  in  1992, she  ran  a  bar  in  Jamaica  with  her  new  boyfriend. She  died  on  9/11  when  she  was  a  passenger  on  the  plane that  crashed  into  the  North Tower.
