500 Christine ( 1983)

 The  Stephen  King  adaptations  came  thick  and  fast  in  the  eighties. The  car's  the  star  in  this one  as  a  demonic vehicle  takes  control  of  a  nerdy  teen  and  wreaks  murderous  havoc  on  their  mutual  enemies. It's  a  bit  Carrie  on  wheels  but  always  watchable.

Kelly  was  born  in  Hawaii but  spent  some  of  her  childhood  in  Iraq  and Australia. She  started  out  as  a  model  in  advertising  then got  some  TV  work. This was  her  third  film. Her  career in  the  eighties was  unspectacular  but  marriage  to  John  Travolta  in  1991  raised  her  profile. Unfortunately  her  later  years  were  scarred  by  personal  tragedy  with  the  death  of  their  son  and her  own  battle  with  breast  cancer  to  which  she  succumbed  in 2020.
