British horror got a shot in the arm from this adaptation of Angela Carter's short story, the second feature film for director Neil Jordan. A young girl dreams of her sister being attacked by wolves then is transplanted into a medieval forest herself, telling and receiving stories about wolves. It's not very scary and there's a definite feel of style, heavily influenced by Hammer horror, over substance but it's worth a look.
