Hammer  had  a  go  at  the  old  dark  house  film  here with  reasonably  good  results. Conrad  Phillips  plays  exactly  the  same  character  here - the  upright  and  uptight  young  reporter -  as  in  Circus  of  Horrors

Ella  Venable  ( Catherine  Lacey )  is  a  wealthy  writer  who  is  killed  by  a  servant  at  the  behest  of  her  envious  husband  Walter  ( Andre  Morrell ). The  only  innocent  witness  is  Tabitha  the  cat. Three  nasty  relatives  and  one  nice  one  stand  to  inherit  and  it's  up  to  Tabtha to  see  that  justice  is  done.

Vanda's  film  career  started  late  after  nearly  two  decades  in  the  Bristol  repertory  theatre. She  was  a  supporting  player  who  became  a  reliable  character  actress . occasionally  getting  regular  roles  on  TV  up  to  the  mid-eighties . She  died  in  1990  aged  67.
