439 The Children ( 1980 )

 This  is  a  good-looking  pile  of  crud. A  school  bus  carrying  five  children drives  into  a  cloud  of  toxic  waste  and  the  children  turn  into  radioactive  zombies  with  black  nail  varnish  who  burn  everyone  they  touch  (while  leaving their  clothes  intact ). The  cinematography  is  great  and  the  concept  is  OK  but  everything  else  is  rotten. The  script  doesn't  account  for  all  the  characters, the  props  are  risible and  the acting  is  uniformly  terrible.

Gale  Garnett  ( as  Cathy )

Gale  was  from  New  Zealand  and  was  was  also  a  Grammy-winning folk  singer  and  songwriter. She  mainly  worked  in  American TV from  1959  onwards. Since  2007,  she  has  been  a  novelist  living  in  Canada  and  hasn't  made  a  film  since 2013.

Joy  Glaccum ( as  Suzie )

This  was  Suzanne's  first  film  role. She  went  on  to  a  respectable  careeer  on  TV. She  married  Paul  Engeman , lead  singer  of  Animotion  in  1985. She  set  up  her  own  business   as  a  make -up  artist  in  1993  and  largely  retired  after  1998  though  she  does  appear  in  the  Tex  Murphy  series  of  video  games.
