441 Prom Night (1980)

 Jamie  Lee  Curtis  gets  away  from  John  Carpenter  but  not  from  horror  in  this  Canadian  slasher. The  plot is  almost identical  to  To  All  A  Goodnight,  with   a  generous  side  helping  of  Carrie.  A  group  of  kids  in  a  derelict  school  building  scare  the  Principal's  daughter  out  of  a  window  and  keep  shtum  about  it.  A  masked ( and  myopic)  killer  waits  six  years  to  take  them  out  at  the  Prom

Although  the film  has  its   champions, there  are  obvious  flaws   The  main  actors  particulary  Curtis  are  all  too  old, to  still  be  at  school. Top  billed  Leslie  Nielsen,  in  one  of  his  last  straight  roles  as  the  nepotistic  Principal  who  never  considers  he   should  have  boarded  the  old  building  up ,  is  essentially  redundant . There's  a  lot  of  padding : the  killer  doesn't  get  going  until  an  hour  into  the  film ( after  a  three  minute  sequence  of  Curtis  dancing ), and  their  identity  is  obvious  from  their  body  shape

Despite  being  way  too  old  for  the  part,  Jamie  is  the  best  thing  in  the  film.

Eddie  Benton  ( as  Wendy )

This  was  Eddie's  third  film  role  and  her  last  before  switching  to  the screen  name  of  Anne-Marie  Martin. Despite  a  smattering  of  film  roles,  she  is  better  known  for  her  TV  work  in  the  soap  Days  Of  Our  Lives  and  sitcom  Sledgehammer , She  retired from  acting  on  marriage  to  Michael  Crichton   to  concentrate  on  competitive  horse  riding. She  co-wrote  Twister  with  Crichton but  they  divorced  in  2002.

Pita  Oliver ( as  Vicki )

This  was  the  first  of  Pita's  three  films  in a  very  brief  career.

Mary  Beth  Rubens ( as  Kelly )

Sex : Kelly  pulls  out  of  sex  with  her  boyfriend  at  a  late  stage

This  was  Mary  Beth's  first  film  role. She  had  a  steady  career  in  Canadian  TV  until  1997  when  a  severe  head  injury  left  her  permanently  disabled. She  went  on  to  study  law  and  has  recently  been  involved  in  disabled  theatre  in  Toronto.

Joy  Thompson  (as  Jude )

Sex : Jude  loses  her  virginity  with  Symour  the  fat  nerd.

Death  : Jude  is  hacked  to  death

Joy  had  a  mediocre  screen  career  in  the  eighties. Since  1997 she  has  taught  drama  in  Ontario,

Elizabeth  Mason  ( as  Adele )

Elizabeth  had  a  mediocre  acting  carrer  which  finished  in  1988, After  that  she  became  a  successful  entrepreneur  and  author  with  a  string  of  boutiques.

Pam  Henry  (as  Car  Hop )

 Pam   works  in  the  film  industry  as  a  driver  and  makes  occasional  screen  appearances.

Leslie  Scott  ( as young Wendy)

Leslie  was  a  child  catalogue  model  before  being  cast  in  this , her  only  film  role. She  is  now  a  teacher.
