239 The Deadly Bees ( 1966 )
Bee films haven't got a particularly good reputation and this offering from Amicus doesn't do anything to dispel that with a script that doesn't make much sense, even after a particularly clunky Talking Killer explanation , and risible special effects. Ronnie Wood's early band The Birds make a brief appearance in the film.
Vicki Robbins is a pop singer who collapses with exhaustion. Her doctor recommends convalescence at the island farm of his friend Ralph Hargrove ( Guy Doleman ) who accepts the task even though his marriage to Janet ( Catherine Flynn ) is on the point of collapse. Hargrove doesn't have a great relationship with neighbour and bee-keeping rival Manfred ( Frank Finlay ) either and Vicki has to work out what's going on between them when bee attacks start.
Suzanna Leigh ( as Vicki Robbins )
Sex : Vicki fending off the bees in her underwear is the highlight of the film
Death : Survives
Suzanna was originally Sandra Smith from Berkshire. She had minor roles as a child, changing her name in tribute to her godmother Vivien Leigh. She was popular in the sixties and seventies , appearing in other horror films. She retired at the beginning of the eighties but made a surprise comeback in 2015's Deadlier Than The Male. She is currently fighting liver cancer aged 72.
Katy Wild ( as Doris Hargreaves )
Sex : A relationship with Ralph is hinted at but we don't see anything
Death : Survives
Katy again plays a servant but her role is a bit more substantial in this one.
