244 Plague of the Zombies ( 1966 )

This  was  Hammer's  first  zombie  film  and  it's  not  bad  if  a  touch  formulaic.

Sir  James  Forbes  ( Andre  Morrell )  is  an  eminent  medical  professor  who  receives a letter  from  a  former  pupil  Peter Tompson  ( Brook  Williams ) practising  in  Cornwall  about  a  large  number  of  unexplained  deaths . Forbes  and  his  daughter  go  to  visit  and  find  all  manner  of  strange things  going  on.

Diane  Clare  ( as  Sylvia  Forbes )

Sex :  Sylvia  is  abducted  and  thrown  around  by  a  gang  of  tyros  as  a  prelude  to  rape  but  they  are  interrupted

Death : Survives

Diane  had a  career  as  a  baby  in  films  in  the  late  thirties  but  then  had  to  get  back  into  the  industry  the  hard  way. She  found  a  niche  in  horror  films  in  the  mid-sixties  but  retired  on  marrying  playwright  Barry  England  in  1967. She  died  in  2013  aged  74.

Jacqueline Pearce  ( as  Alice  Tompson )

Sex : No

Death :  Killed  by  the  villainous  Squire Hamilton  then  destroyed  as  a  zombie  when  Forbes  decapitates  her.

To  those  of  us  of  a  certain  age,  Jacqueline  will  always  be  the  psychopathic  Servalan  in  Blake's  Seven  but  she  had  a  respectable  film  career  in  the  sixties  then  a  long  TV  career , and  occasional  film  appearances ,  until  she  retired  to  South  Africa  in  2006. She  is  currently  in  remission  from  breast  cancer  and  is  now  73.
