It may lack the political subtext of the original but the 1978 remake of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers is by far the best version. Donald Sutherland is a dour health inspector who finds himself one of an ever-diminishing band of humans amid a sea of icy emotionless clones bent on replacing the original species altogether. This thoroughly pessimistic film conjures a real sense of urban paranoia punctuated with some real shock moments.

Originally from England, Veronica's career spans 65 years and counting but has been defined by her screaming in this and Alien. Nevertheless she's still going strong at 74.
