This adaptation of a Martin Cruz Smith novel is stronger on Native American politics and religion than actual horror but it's not as bad as its reception at the time suggests. Nick Mancuso ( a non-Indian ) plays Duran , a deputy on an Indian reservation investigating the strange death of a horse. Along comes David Warner - whose presence is crucial to the film - as an expert on a personal crusade to destroy vampire bats and they eventually team up.
Kathryn Harrold ( as Annie )
Sex : Annie and Duran go skinnydipping
Death : Survives
This was Kathryn's first film role after making her name in daytime soap The Doctors. Her biggest suvccess in film was starring alongside Steve McQueen in The Hunter in 1980 but thereafter she worked mainly in TV with recurring roles in The Rockford Files, The Larry Sanders Show and Chicago Hope. At the end of the noughties she retired from acting and retrained as a marriage counselor and family therapist. She has her own practice in California.
